MKE PEACE TREE 2020-2021

Mission Statement: 

To plant a White Pine Tree in the Milwaukee area in order to promote peace and unity of the American People.

Overview:

To plant a White Pine Tree in the Milwaukee area in order to promote peace and unity of the American People. This is a national project and many cities around the world will also be planting a peace tree.  For example, Chicago will be planting their peace tree in coordination with the Filed Museum’s grand opening of their new Native American Exhibit. The national peace tree will be located at the National Mall. This is going to be in celebration during Indigenous people week.

Partnerships include Menomonee Tribal Enterprises, contact Nels Huse, Milwaukee School of Engineering University, contacts Sebastian Thachenkary and Candela Marini, and The Bucks, contact Steve Novack. Goals and opportunities of the project include taking apart of a worldwide initiate, spreading cultural awareness to those throughout the city of Milwaukee, and promoting environmental awareness.
