Secretary of Define American 2019

Tiana Moder is the former Secretary (and unofficial treasurer) of Define American, and has chosen to take a more backseat role for the future. Entering her second year at MSOE she is studying Biomedical engineering with a plan for a career in a neural network related field. In her time at school, Tiana helped found the MSOE chapter of Define American, while also becoming heavily integrated into multiple other clubs and organizations - MAGE TT PDC Intervarsity. She used her experience from planning an annual off season robotics competition all through high school to help make sure that the plans for the events were well planned and planning was clearly documented. Knowing that she was falling behind in fulfilling that role, and not properly maintaining communication from the top to the bottom of the organisation, was a main part of why she decided to step back, and relinquish her E-Board position. All in all she enjoyed her time as an official e board member and working with most of her group mates in both the club and honors. While she has personal issues with another member for a few class and other club instances, she has tried to keep that away from the rest of the group, only talking openly to Michael about it, and never around the other members.

“Quantifying my experience with Define American is impossible. I can't say I always enjoyed it, or that I thought everything we did was the best idea. However, we were a first year club, and a handful of first year college students, what else could we expect? Even when I had issues clarifying my thoughts due to two strong influences in different directions about the issues of immigration, I KNEW that the education of people about the issues, the restructuring of our system, was needed to fix the issue. And having found a middle ground, I was able to balance the beliefs of my family and my organization - teaching me valuable skills I would never have gotten any other way.”
